Glam Office Decor Idea: Painted Marble Remnant

Learn how to turn a small broken slab of marble into glam office decor just by simply painting! I love how this Like A Boss sign for a glam office turned out.

When I started working on my marble & gold office, I looked everywhere for glam office decor inspiration – even in the marble remnant aisle at our local ReStore.

I was over the moon when I saw this little broken slab of marble at our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I was even more excited when I took it to the cash register and paid just $1 for it!

This post contains affiliate links, but nothing that I wouldn’t wholeheartedly recommend anyway! Read my full disclosure here.

I have been working on getting my Marble & Gold office ready for reveal day (UPDATE: Check out the room reveal here!) and this Carrara couldn’t be more perfect. I’ve had my heart set on creating a painted marble decor piece for the room to put up on my awesome art shelves.

Ok’s let’s learn how to make this glam office decor!

Supplies needed to make this painted marble glam office decor: gold acrylic paint, a thin-line paint brush, and a piece of marble slate

Supplies for painted marble decor:

First step in making this marble glam office decor: clean the marble slate. I used a paper towel and Meyers Clean Day multi-surface cleaner.

1. Clean marble.

I started by giving the marble a good cleaning to remove any dirt or oils.

I love this Meyer’s Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner from Grove Collaborative (Use this link to get $10 off when you sign up and order for the first time at Grove Collaborative!)

This Iowa Pine winter seasonal scent is AH-MAZING. We also love the Basil scent for all the rest of the seasons.

To make this glam office decor, use a pencil to draw on a stencil of whatever words or phrase you want painted on the marble slab. I outlined

2. Sketch out letters with a pencil.

Next, I traced out my lettering by hand with a pencil. If you mess up, the pencil will wipe right off the marble.

The trick to doing “fake” calligraphy by hand is writing your letters in cursive a little more spread out than normal and then going back and making all of your downstrokes thicker.

Update: if I was doing this again, I would use my Silhouette Cameo to make a stencil, but I couldn’t find my power cord for it when I was working on this…so I went old school and did it by hand. Learn how to make cheap custom stencils here!

3. Paint letters.

Lastly, I just used a small paintbrush and carefully filled it in over my traced letters. I ended up doing 2 coats and it filled great!

I love how the metallic paint shimmers in the light!
