How to install vertical shiplap

cheap & EAsy DIY

BEFORE

You can make your own faux shiplap with 1/4" plywood?

Do you know...

Buy it here!

Cut into 6" wide slats on table saw & cut to length with miter saw

Start by painting the wall the same color the shiplap will be painted.

Even though the gaps in between the shiplap are small, you will be able to see the color of the wall.

Prime & paint all sides of the shiplap slats

Painting the first coat on the shiplap is always easier before installing, so by painting it first you’ll save time and energy.

Attach shiplap to wall vertically.

Use construction adhesive on the back. Press into place, check for level and nail or staple into place.

Use a nickel as a spacer between planks!

Fill holes with spackle and sand smooth.
