How To Fix Sandals and More With Flexible Super Glue

Give new life to your broken sandals with flexible super glue! See how I fixed my favorite leather flip flops using DAP Rapid Fuse Flex Gel.

I was so sad when the leather soles of my favorite sandals started pulling apart, but I was able to give them new life with DAP RapidFuse Flex Gel Super Glue!

I accidentally left my wet leather Rainbow Sandals to dry outside, which is how they curl up and create loose soles. On my shoes, the outer sole was starting to separate in a few spots.  Bummer, but I didn’t want to give up on these comfy pair of shoes quite yet!

When my friends at DAP told me about their new flexible gel super glue, I thought it would be a great idea to try out a little sandal repair project on my trusty Rainbow flip flops. If you have broken sandals or other pairs of shoes, it’s worth giving this glue a try to see if you can return them to their former glory!

The repair process was pretty simple! The key here with this new glue is that it is flexible, which is necessary when you’re using it on something like a shoe repair. Otherwise, the glue would crack when it is moved, and you’ll definitely be using and moving the repaired area when it comes to shoes.

What else could you use DAP RapidFuse Flex Gel for?

This flexible super glue isn’t just great for sandals. It’s perfect for quick fixes all around the house:

  • Backpacks & Purses – Reinforce fraying straps or fix small tears
  • Toys – Reattach arms, legs, or wheels on well-loved toys
  • Sunglasses – Secure loose arms or nose pads
  • Fabric Decor – Patch up decorative pillows or slipcovers
  • Shoe Soles – Works on sneakers, dress shoes, or even kids’ shoes
  • Inflatables – Patch a hole in an inflatable mattress without a patch kit
  • Craft Projects – Bond flexible materials without cracking

Basically, if it bends and it’s falling apart…this glue might save the day.

Step 1. Apply glue to the damaged area

The first step is to shake the bottle of glue and then tap the bottle onto a hard surface before opening it. This helps the gel glue get into the nozzle of the squeeze bottle.

Insert the glue tip into the area where the sole is separating and squeeze a small amount of glue onto one of the surfaces. For best results, you only need a thin layer of glue, so don’t use too much.

Step 2. Press or clamp the two surfaces together

The next step is to press the two surfaces together and quickly wipe off any excess glue that comes up with a paper towel or wet towel. You only need to press them together for about 10 to 30 seconds, but I found that it was hard to get even pressure on the area. So I decided to use clamps so that they pressed on the repaired area evenly, which my fingers couldn’t do.

After a few minutes, you can remove the clamps if you use them.

The glue will fully cure in just 4 hours, so I’d avoid wearing the shoes until then for a lasting repair.

Quick Tips For Shoe Repair:

  • Use clamps for even pressure
  • Don’t overdo the glue
  • Let cure fully before using

Easy as that! This flexible glue worked like a charm, and now I can continue wearing my beloved sandals!

If your favorite leather sandals or shoes (or even things like purses, backpacks, toys, fabric, and more) need fixing, this flexible super glue is your best bet.
