DIY Boho Advent Calendar with Yarn Tassel Wall Hanging

I’d been wanting to make a fun yarn tassel wall hanging and when I finally finished it, I knew it would be perfect to display a boho advent calendar to countdown to Christmas day.

I recently shared how to make tassels out of yarn and I swear it is SO easy. Anyone can totally do it!

Once the yarn tassels are made and hung up on the wall with a stick, the rest of the boho advent calendar is easy!

To use the yarn tassel wall hanging creatively during the Christmas season, you can create your own DIY advent calendar countdown until Christmas.

Step 1. Make yarn tassels.

Making yarn tassels is SO easy! I have a whole separate tutorial that walks you through the entire process in detail.

Step 2. Hang tassels on the wall.

There are several different ways you can attach the yarn tassels to the wall. We grabbed a pretty stick from the backyard and added it to the wall with some string and a Command hook. You could also use a wooden dowel rod or scrap wood.

Next, tie the yarn tassels to the stick. Mine are all different sizes and colors, but you could totally make this look more cohesive by making your tassel all the same size or color.

It’s the perfect wall decor for displaying Christmas countdown calendars! It fits right in with the boho or scandi Christmas theme. I used neutral-colored yarn so it fits in with our neutral Christmas decor.

Step 3. Attach boho advent calendar cards to yarn wall hanging.

I purchased this gorgeous set of advent cards from Etsy and then used wooden clothespins to clip them into place on the strands at the top of the yarn tassels.

I added a couple of long strands of extra yarn to accommodate all of the countdown cards.

Here’s just a small example of how absolutely gorgeous the backside of the advent calendar cards is. Each day features a different bible verse, quote, or Christmas song lyric with a beautiful design.

Here’s a full look at the backside of each advent Christmas calendar cards from Glory Tradition on Etsy. Aren’t they so pretty? I love how each day is different, but they still go together so beautifully.

To add small Christmas activities to each day, you can look up the bible verses and do your bible reading. On the days when it is a song lyric, you can listen to the songs. It is such a fun way to get your heart ready for this Christmas season!

That photo also shows a different way to display the cards. There are a lot of different ways to use them, so you can find one that fits your holiday style. For another Christmas wall decor idea, you can simply add some strings to your wall and clip the cards that way.

Doesn’t the Christmas holiday countdown look so pretty? Starting on December 1st, you and your family can simply turn over the cards to reveal a beautifully designed bible verse on the other side of the advent cards.
