Our Boho Christmas Tree In The Bedroom
This year we decided to add a Christmas tree to our bedroom when we decorated it for Christmas and I’m loving those cozy vibes! I decorated the tree with a boho theme that fits right in with our style.
Come take a tour of our bedroom boho Christmas tree and let me convince you why you need a Christmas tree in your bedroom too!

Why you need a Christmas tree in the bedroom
I thought a Christmas tree in the bedroom was a bit much at first, but now I’m totally hooked. I resisted buying another tree for our bedroom for years, thinking it was too “extra”.
But I finally caved this year and I’m already a massive fan. Trust me on this one, once you add a tree to your bedroom, you won’t go back.
You can decorate it however you want
For the Christmas tree in our living room, we have our family Christmas decorations all over it. It has a more traditional color palette and a lot of mismatched ornaments from our childhood. And I love that. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our kids love decorating the living room Christmas tree with us and that is what is important to me. It is not perfect, but it’s a pure family tree. I don’t want to have to tell the kids exactly where to put the ornaments so it is not picture-perfect.
But as someone who loves decorating and design, it sometimes makes my eyes twitch a little bit to not have all the ornaments spaced out evenly or mixing all the different colors.
That’s one of the reasons why I wanted to add a Christmas tree to the bedroom. I could decorate it however I’d like. And of course, I went with a boho theme!
My kids totally understood because they both of their own mini Christmas trees in their bedroom that they get to decorate however they’d like. It is one of their favorite traditions when it comes to holiday decor around our house.
If you find yourself craving a “Mom” tree to decorate however you want this Christmas season, add a tree to your bedroom! You won’t be sorry!
A Christmas tree makes your bedroom super cozy
The Christmas tree lights cast a warm glow, instantly turning your bedroom into a snug winter retreat that you just want to hang out in. The first thing you’ll want to do is cozy up in bed and turn on a good Christmas movie!
Since adding the Christmas tree to our bedroom, I find myself retreating in here at the end of the day right after the kids go to bed. It is just so COZY!
You can get away with a smaller budget-friendly faux tree in your bedroom
When I was looking for our bedroom tree, I hunted for the perfect fit and landed on this slim tree with a 24″ base. I was able to stay budget-friendly and didn’t break the bank (at roughly $100).
I love that it is pre-lit because no one wants to mess around with string lights.
This slim tree may not be as lush as one you’d use in your living room, but that’s okay. With a touch of wood bead garland and ornaments, it’s a winner.
Boho Christmas tree ideas
Since this was my own tree in our bedroom, I decided to give it a complete boho vibe this holiday season! I had so much fun making my boho Christmas tree decor. Let’s take a closer look.
1. Add garland with wooden beads
A wooden bead garland, like this, complements a boho Christmas tree by adding natural, earthy textures that fit right in with the bohemian Christmas aesthetic. You can get one like this with distressed white painted wood beads or with light wood for a more natural look.
This one is 26′ long and it is perfect for wrapping around the slim Christmas tree several times in a spiral.
It is also really easy to make your own wood bead garland, learn how to do it here!
2. Use neutral colors
I love me some traditional red and green colors for Christmas, but those colors don’t fit in great with the whole boho Christmas look.
Using natural colors on a boho Christmas tree goes with the laid-back, earthy vibe of bohemian style. Colors like greens, tans, cream, browns, and neutrals, create a harmonious and organic look, enhancing the tree’s overall boho aesthetic with a touch of nature-inspired warmth.
3. Throw a faux fur blanket down for an easy tree skirt
One thing that you’ll definitely need for your bedroom Christmas tree is some way to cover the bottom of the tree.
You can do this with a store-bought tree skirt (or a DIY tree collar, like we have in our living room). But to avoid the extra price tags, I kept things simple in here and just threw a blanket down and wrapped it around the tree stand to cover it.
The fur texture brings into a lot of cozy vibes, don’t you agree? I already had this blanket, but finding affordable faux fur throws is pretty easy. I love this one!
4. Make your own yarn star tree topper
You’ll also need some way to top your Christmas. Traditionally you’ll see either an angel or tree on the top of the tree. Again, I decided to DIY my topper and it was SO EASY.
I made this yarn star tree topper out of a piece of cardboard cut in the shape of a star and then wrapped it with chunky white yarn. Then I just tucked it into the top of the tree for a little statement piece.

5. Use handmade ornaments or vintage ornaments with boho style
Instead of buying a bunch of new ornaments, I got busy making several different styles of boho ornaments!
The good news is that I’m sharing all the DIY tutorials with you, of course! I also have them all shared in video format over on our YouTube channel.
